Have friends who have used the water purifier for a long time ever encountered the situation that the filter element is blocked and the water does not come out? As we all know, the tap water is clear and transparent. Why is the filter element blocked when the tap water is normally filtered by the water plant? Have friends who have used the water purifier for a long time ever encountered the situation that the filter element is blocked and the water does not come out? As we all know, the tap water is clear and transparent. Why is the filter element blocked when the tap water is normally filtered by the water plant? In fact, it is related to the quality of local tap water. So how often is it appropriate to change the filter element of the water purifier?

With the gradual strengthening of people's awareness of healthy drinking water, the popularity of domestic water purifiers is increasing. However, few people know how to use and maintain water purifiers. After purchasing the water purifier, few people will actively read the operating instructions of the water purifier. Generally, the operating instructions of the water purifier will indicate the replacement time standard of the filter element.

The service life of the filter element of the water purifier varies according to the model. However, no matter how long its service life is, as long as it exceeds the time limit, the filtering effect of the filter element will be greatly reduced or even invalid, which will not only reduce the working efficiency of the water purifier, but also affect human health in serious cases, which needs to be paid attention to.

The filter element can be replaced, and it is healthy without replacement

The seemingly clean tap water contains many small substances that cannot be seen by the naked eye. After the filter element of the water purifier works for a period of time, due to the accumulation of intercepted impurities and microorganisms, if it is not replaced in time, once the filter element is blocked, the filtering capacity will be reduced, and the tap water has the risk of secondary pollution. It is recommended that the user replace the filter element regularly according to the requirements of the user manual.

Three misunderstandings of filter element replacement

Mistake 1: The test result of TDS detector pen is qualified, and the filter element does not need to be replaced

There are about 106 indicators for measuring water quality in tap water, and TDS is only one of these indicators. But many users think that the tap water detected by TDS detector is "qualified", which means that the quality of tap water is really up to standard. In fact, qualified drinking water needs to meet the standards of comprehensive indicators such as turbidity, total bacterial count, microbial number, heavy metal concentration and organic content. It is not rigorous to determine whether the water quality is up to standard through TDS detection pen.

Mistake 2: The filter element doesn't look dirty, so it doesn't need to be replaced

Some users will have the awareness of replacing the filter element, but when they remove the filter element and find that the color of the filter element looks "not very dirty", they will mistakenly think that it is not necessary to replace it. In fact, this practice is not appropriate.

The proportion of substances in tap water in different regions is different. If the tap water in this area contains a lot of sediment and rust particles, the filter element that has been used for a long time will appear yellow (the color of sediment) or brown (the color of rust), and look very dirty. However, if there are many substances such as heavy metal ions, calcium and magnesium ions, glial viruses, and microorganisms in the tap water in this area, the particles of these substances are small and the color is light, and they will not directly appear yellow and brown like sand and rust. Although a large amount of them are attached to the filter core, the filter core will not look "dirty". However, the filter element at this time also needs to be replaced.

Mistake 3: The filter element is not blocked, so it is unnecessary to replace the filter element

In addition to the above two misunderstandings, there are still users who hold the attitude of "using the water purifier to the end". As long as the water can be discharged normally, the water purifier does not need to replace the filter element, and can be used all the time. In fact, the service life of the filter element requires comprehensive consideration of filtration and adsorption. If there are few large particles in the water, the filter element may not be blocked for several years, but a large number of heavy metal ions, microorganisms and other harmful substances may still be accumulated on the filter element.

Take a more intuitive example - activated carbon. With the increase of water filtration, pollutants in the water will gradually fill the pores of activated carbon. When the pores of activated carbon particles are filled, the filter element will not have the ability to continue to absorb pollutants.

To sum up, seemingly clean tap water actually contains a certain amount of colorless, odorless, invisible and untouchable harmful substances. Therefore, a good way to ensure the health of drinking water is to replace qualified filter elements regularly according to the manufacturer's recommendations.
